Actual Video Time Left for Chrome

Quick setup

  1. Install the extension and pin it from Chrome's Extensions menu.
  2. Open a YouTube or Vimeo page with a standard video and start playback.
  3. Use the toolbar popup to enable the overlay and optional caption-aware controls.
  4. Open Manage profiles and YouTube rules for advanced settings.

If the timer does not appear

  • Reload the video tab after installing or updating the extension.
  • Confirm Show timer overlay is enabled in the toolbar popup.
  • Check that you are on a default-supported YouTube or Vimeo page or embed.
  • Check that the page uses a standard HTML5 video element.
  • Try the top-level player: embedded cross-origin players may restrict access.

Caption-aware controls

Dynamic speed and the speech-rate limit require timed captions exposed by the player. The base timer does not require captions. If caption controls report that captions are unavailable or unreliable, use the player's manual speed control.

  • Chrome version and extension version
  • The website and expected behavior
  • Steps to reproduce the issue

Do not include private caption text, course content, account details, or sensitive page data. Reports are reviewed at least weekly, but no resolution time is promised.

Privacy

The extension has no developer analytics or backend. See the privacy policy for the complete disclosure.
